The Japanese Consortium for Lao Health Research was established in 2003, by Japanese who are eager to help to advance the health of Lao people. Currently, the consortium consists of more than 50 Japanese including researchers from a variety of expertise, health practitioners and health policy advisers. The consortium promotes collaboration and information exchange among consortium members, in order to reduce the work burden of Lao counterparts who collaborates with consortium members and to implement a research and project in a more efficient manner. The consortium also promotes human resource development among Lao and Japanese young practitioners and researchers. The National Institute of Public Health, Lao PDR, has annually held a National Health Research Forum since 2007. The consortium has continuously supported the forums where consortium members actively disseminate a research finding and lesson learnt from thier activities for health-policy planning and formulation.

The 9th National Health Research Forum will be held on 13-14 October 2015.

The conference place and tentative program of the 6th Lao National Health Research Forum have been announced.


The 6th Lao National Health Research Forum will be held in Savannakhet between 14th and 15th September, 2012.

Prof. Boungnong Boupha visited the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature, Kyoto.

National Center for Global Health and Medicine established a joint laboratory at Institut Pasteur du Laos.
